My quest for the perfect nude liner began last summer. I tried many different liners when I worked at Shoppers and finally settled on Smashbox's Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Liner in Bare. I loved it. It was smooth, creamy, and the perfect shade. However, I fell out of love with it quickly. For $23 I was shocked at how little product it came with. That was a learning lesson - to always look at how much product you are getting for your money. Most eyeliners have about .04 oz, while this one came with .01! No wonder it was so disappointing. I actually ran out of the product in the middle of making a video tutorial - and was not very good at hiding my disappointment.
So, I went back to the drawing board. Next, I tried Sephora's Long Lasting Kohl pencil in Infininte Beige. It did the trick, but felt pretty dull and was not nearly as creamy as the Smashbox Kohl liner. After that I tried Sephora's Waterproof Contour eye pencil 12H wear in Blonde Ambition. That purchase was inspired by a tutorial video of Michelle Phan's I had watched, where she used a shimmery beige pencil on her waterline. I liked it - but not for my everyday look.
Finally, I came across Rimmel's Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl liner in Nude.
Let's just say I AM NEVER TURNING BACK (caps lock needed there). This pencil has the same gorgeous nude colour, the creamy waterproof kohl factor, and its a third of the price of the Smashbox liner!! Depending on where you buy it - it will be anywhere from $5-$7. If you ask me, it is a wise investment. Not to mention you get 4 times the amount of product (.04 with Rimmel vs .01 with Smashbox)! If you liked my tutorial on how to brighten your eyes - I highly recommend you pick up this gem. The only thing I will warn you about is it is extremely creamy - so be extra gentle when you apply it. Other than that, It will NOT let you down. I did buy it in black as well, but found that it was a bit too creamy to be precise for me. Personally, I like really clean lines when I use black eyeliner. However, if you were doing a smokey eye shadow look this liner would give you lots to work with in terms of 'smoking' out your liner.
You've gotta love a good drugstore find! I sure do anyways.
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
