To me, makeup is magic. I wanted to write a post about this to clarify just what I mean by that.
Do I think that you need to wear a lot of makeup to look beautiful?
Do I think that you need to spend a lot of money on your makeup?
There are certainly a few items ( I am sure I will discuss later), that I feel are worth investing in. However, there are many drug store items that can certainly do the trick at masking unwanted blemishes.
This past week my face broke out. I relied on spot treatments at night to do the heavy lifting, but during the day I wanted to make sure that I felt like myself. To start, it is important to prime your face. You need to put moisture in your skin in order for makeup to go on smoothly.
If you're not a big fan of foundation, Loreal makes a BB cream that I swear by - called Loreal Magic Skin Beautifier. It offers great coverage, works as a primer, and doesn't break the bank! Foundations will depend on your skin type (oily, dry, etc.) so they will differ. I always like to try before I buy. Shoppers Drug Mart and Sephora will give you a sample of foundation to take home and try before you purchase it. I highly recommend doing that as you can see how it will wear throughout the day.
I usually do my eye makeup while my foundation or bb cream sets. Then I put concealer on any reddish areas (Lise Watier is my personal favourite for concealer), and set it all with a powder (my go to being M.A.C Studio Fix). Last but not least I add a bit of bronzer, blush and some cheek highlight!
I know it sounds like a lot of steps to achieve that perfect coverage, but the more you do it the faster you become. I think it is important to take time for yourself. If putting on a 5 minute face will make you feel beautiful for the rest of the day, try to find those 5 minutes.
