I used to think that I couldn't show off my makeup unless I wasn't wearing my glasses. That lead to MANY headaches due to eye strain, and I suppose my stubborn nature. Lesson learned. I have decided that it is time to ROCK the glasses look. Let me tell you why.
Glasses add character. Your glasses were picked out for YOU. They add character. Something unique to your look, so own that.
Glasses draw attention to your eyes. My eyes are my favourite feature. I had convinced myself that with glasses on I was hiding them. It wasn't until I took the goofy picture featured above that I realized my eyes weren't being hidden by my glasses, but instead highlighted (note: this was a selfie I took to send my sisters. It was never intended to be shared on the internet). If anything they made my eyeshadow more noticeable! Clear vision, and accentuated eye makeup? Win.Win.
Glasses versus contact lenses. I have tried to get contact lenses 3 times, and have yet to find a comfortable pair. When people sacrifice comfort for looks it is never a fair compromise. When doing bridal makeup, many brides decide they will deal with the discomfort of contacts for the day instead of wearing their glasses. If your glasses are part of who you are, I say wear them! They accentuate your eyes and they are part of your character.
Alright. Enough convincing. I will let you decide if you want to try wearing makeup with glasses. If you do, don't be afraid to be bold with your eye makeup. Draw attention to your eyes by adding a daring pop of pigment to your lid. It doesn't have to be blue. Please don't misinterpret my advice here. I just mean, when you're shading in your accent colour of your eyeshadow - make it a bit bolder. Add another layer. Throw on some liner and rock a glamorous eye. If you thought you couldn't wear makeup as well with glasses (like me), I am here to tell you that you definitely can.
Some people wish they had glasses. For those of us who have had them for years, the feeling isn't always mutual. However, non prescription lenses exist for a reason. Glasses are a fashion statement. So use yours to your advantage.
I plan to.
P.S - Here is a great video I found by Michelle Phan (a YouTube beauty guru) on finding the best glasses for your face shape! I found it to be pretty helpful. Enjoy!
