One makeup artist trick I love, and use often, is one that creates the look of bigger, brighter eyes. It's an instant eye opener, and on the days when you're not feeling so awake it will fool others into thinking you are. How you ask? Easy!
You can use this technique every day or save it for special occasions. Here is a picture where I used this technique for a look I wore to a wedding I attended last year.
If you take a close look at my waterline you can see I brightened it! Another makeup artist trick revealed. Give it a try. Brighten up those beautiful eyes of yours!

Ha! I couldn't resist that play on words! In doing my usual beauty research, and tracking trends, I have seen the cat eye look becoming increasingly popular. So I thought I would look online at some tutorials on how to achieve a symmetrical cat eye look. I found a little trick I thought I would share with all of you. I tried it for the first time tonight and was impressed with how well it worked. I think I just might rock the cat eye look more often!
You will need:
Here is a step by step guide on how to achieve the 'perfect cat-eye':
Eyebrows are important. I know I've said this before, but I feel it's important enough to be repeated. Don't overlook them. They frame your face and without them we look quite different.
Let me show you just how much...
Alright, I will admit it. When it comes to sports I've never been much of an enthusiast. It took me a while to remember the term personal best. Clearly I haven't set many new personal bests when it comes to sports....but I have when it comes to makeup!
What do I mean by personal best? Well you could think of it in terms of looking your personal best. In fact I hadn't even thought of that when I started to write this....zing! What I actually meant was a personal best in terms of getting your morning routine down pat. Time wise.
Let me start out by saying. I am NOT a morning person. It is best not to talk to me when I first wake up. For those moms out there - I give you serious credit. When sleep deprived I can be quite the bear.
Not to mention I wake up with hair that often times looks like I stuck my finger in an electrical socket (Again, refer to Exhibit A).
So to paint a picture for you, I wake up looking like I am stuck in the 80's, growling (no word of a lie) and give myself only minutes to get ready before rushing out the door. This is a daily occurrence which earned me the nickname 'hurricane B'. No judgement.
Okay, if you're thinking get to the point already! Here it is...
On my Makeup by Bree Facebook page I was asked to do a Zombie tutorial. Since I had never done anything like that before I thought why not? I love a good challenge and I also want to make Halloween looks (and tutorial videos) that people will find useful.
So. I sat down, got out all of my makeup and decided to try my best. This is what I came up with. It is my take on a Zombie Fairy (unfortunately I didn't have wings - so you will have to use your imagination). Note: I have never watched a Zombie movie or tutorial ( I am rated G! I am not kidding) but promise to do my homework for next year!
If you want to re-create this look watch the video below to find out how. The products are listed here as well as in the description beneath the video on YouTube.
Here is the look that I created in the video below. I have watched MANY YouTube tutorials in my day. YouTube has helped me teach myself so many tips and tricks. I wanted to try filming a tutorial so I could share my morning routine with all of you. I did speed up the video - if only I could do it that quickly. The video was closer to 15 minutes - which isn't bad considering I had some heavy concealer work to do!
Get ready for one serious transformation...
I took these photos with my cell phone as I transformed myself into Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. I am a bit of a Johhny Depp fan. So much so, I thought I would take the challenge of turning myself into one of his most famous characters. To achieve this look you will need:
Here are the steps to recreate this look:
Every year there are trends with Halloween looks. This year when researching different looks to try I saw a lot of Sugar Skulls and a lot of Pop Art. I have already tried a Sugar Skull look - so I thought that it was time I try some Pop Art.
Before you start this look you want to make sure that you have an even canvas.
Well, the closest I will ever become to looking like one anyway. Though I might be able to pull off snow white too! I love Disney, always have, always will. I thought that I would post a transformation this week into the beautiful Disney Princess, Pocahontas.
I created this look based on the 'before' picture. The lesson I learned from this transformation is photographing a change in contouring and skin tones is not easily picked up without the right lighting. Next time I will be sure to capture pictures with the natural sunlight!
These are the steps I followed to achieve this look:
We have all been there. You wake up on the morning of a big event, possibly one you have been stressing over all week and you're greeted with an unwelcome zit. So you're looking in the mirror and thinking, now what? What can you do to cover it? Well, I am glad you asked.
