As mentioned last weekend, my youngest sister Julia turned 18! I can't believe it. When I moved away from home she was 8 years old. She has grown up to be quite the little fashionista and is skilled with a makeup brush. So, I thought I would feature her in this weeks Be Fabulous Friday. Here is what Jules had to say:
Name: Julia Bigelow
Skin Type: Combination
What is your go to beauty routine? I start by washing, toning, and moisturizing my skin. Then I apply my BB cream, conceal any blemishes and set it with powder. Next I apply eye shadow, eye liner, and mascara. I add a touch of blush, then finish the look with some lip gloss.
If I took a look in your makeup bag what would I find? Mac Studio Fix Powder (C3). ,Lise Watier Concealer Wheel(Normal), L'Oreal magic skin beautifier BB cream (Fair), L’oreal True Match blush (Warm), Quo Smokey Eye Palate (Brown), Sephora Primal Instincts Palate (Love this!), Annabelle liquid Eyeliner(Espresso), Voluminous Million Lashes Excess ( Blackest Black), Estee Lauder Lip-gloss (Praline Paradise) .
If you could only have one makeup item to use every day (deserted island style) what would it be and why?
I would have to choose L’oreal magic skin beautifier BB cream. My skin is very unpredictable when it comes to redness and blemishes and this product definitely provides the best coverage and moisture without being too oily. However, If I was on an island, my tan would likely cover up any blemishes and I would choose a waterproof mascara to bring with me!
What is the best beauty product you've come across? Why do you love it?
The Lise Watier concealer palate. I know this is the same answer as Lindsay last Friday, but I actually could not live without this palette. It will conceal anything, and it lasts all day. I take it with me everywhere. Though, it might be a tie between this product and my Mac studio fix powder. Both last a long time and combined the coverage is amazing.
What was the worst beauty purchase you've made? Why was it awful?
It took me a while to find the best BB cream for my skin type, so there was a lot of trial and error. I bought a BB cream from The Body Shop in particular, and hated it so much. It made my skin excessively oily and I felt as though I needed to wash it off by midday. When Breanna introduced me to the L’Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB cream, I was in love as soon as I applied it to my face.
Do you have any beauty secrets you'd like to share? If so, please tell us:
A beauty secret I would like to share is the use of dry shampoo. Being an athlete, I know that events can sometimes pop up unexpectedly, leaving your hair less than fresh and without enough time to shower. Not ideal. Or perhaps you are trying to make your hair work on the second day and it needs a little sprucing up. We've all been there. The truth is washing your hair everyday is not always the healthiest option, because it strips away the natural oils your scalp produces that keeps your hair hydrated and shiny. This is why I love dry shampoo! It gives your hair the pick-me-up it needs. Two brands of dry shampoo that I recommend are KMS California Hair Play Makeover Spray and Cake Satin Sugar Hair Powder (it comes in both light and dark depending on your hair colour). Both of these options leave your hair fresh and smelling awesome!
